Myasthenia Gravis Cautionary Drugs

Certain prescription and over-the-counter medications have been associated with potential worsening of Myasthenia Gravis (MG) symptoms. Individuals diagnosed with MG should inform all healthcare providers, including physicians and dentists, of their condition prior to receiving treatment or starting new medications.

The inclusion of any medication in educational materials does not mean that the medication is strictly contraindicated for all individuals with MG. In many cases, reports of symptom worsening are rare or may not establish a direct cause-and-effect relationship. Some medications may be medically necessary, and treatment decisions should be made in consultation with a qualified healthcare provider.

Patients are strongly advised to consult their physician before initiating, discontinuing, or modifying any prescription, over-the-counter medication, supplement, or herbal preparation. If MG symptoms worsen after starting a new medication, medical guidance should be sought promptly.
